Star Wars Darth Vader and Yoda Stencil Chairs!

Do you remember this?

At the time when I showed you guys this chair, I had only done two chairs and I was so excited to show you guys my chair before I was completely done with the all four chairs. So the other two chairs sat their all lonely waiting to be done. I did not know why I could not just finish them,  when I go the idea or geeky them out! Yes, I did go there.

I actually added a Darth Vader Stencil to my chairs. So at first glance it looks like my chair are just normal but when you pull a chair out you might be surprises what you might find.

Mailpix Review for Prints!

I had an opportunity to work with MailPix in a wonderful review. I got a
20x30 photo in black and white. The picture is gorgeous beyond belief. I was not expecting such high quality and finish on my photo. It came on a heavy stock and wonderful shine. It looked better than I imagine however, my pictures did not do it justice.

At first I did not know what picture I was going to pick for my photo enlargement, I had a variety of choices. I could download a picture from Facebook or Instagram! I know that most of the time I have photos I wish I could print from social media but I am always afraid the quality will be bad but not with MailPix digital photo printing! All you need to do is download your images from the social media of your choosing then just click on the images of your pictures and select the size on you right hand corner.

The website is supper easy to use and they currently have prints 4x6 for only .10 cents each from Facebook, Instagram or your camera! Its a great deal you guys can't pass up. I've already added about 89 prints to my cart with three 8x10 prints for a grant total of $16.91 only!

So you if you have a stack of pictures you need to print then head over to MailPix.com and order  your prints small or large!

Stay Crafty!

How to turn a kitchen drawer into a planter

Today we have a wonderful DIY its all about turning a kitchen drawer or any kind of drawer  you might have laying around into a planter and guess what she added legs to it too. Lets see who did Nicole from Design it Girl Blog did it.

TOOLS/SUPPLIES
  • White Paint (I used KRYLON spray paint)
  • Kitchen Drawer
  • Primer (KRYLON) works great
  • Slate Blue (KRYLON spray paint)
  • Plastic (to layer the inside) I used gallon size zip lock bags
  • Staple Gun
  • Felt Dots (that's what I call them) for the bottom legs
  • Philips screw driver
  • Contact Paper
  • Staple Gun

I love planting succulents, I don't know a how to, but to me having these in your home is
the new modern way to live! It also adds a natural element to your home decor.

From kitchen drawer , to planter box!

I love the cute ceramic knobs, I completely forgot about these beauties
and thought it would look perfect! What do you think?

My neighbor is remodeling her kitchen , and tossed a few drawers out, along with the original brass hardware. I took the drawers with the hardware and kept only one drawer to actually upcycle into a planter box. Then I remembered I having these legs and the hardware to go with it as well, and thought "this would really look cute".
Step 1- Clean out the drawer completely and wipe down using a wet rag
Step 2- Once the drawer is dried spray on primer, once dried I chose slate Blue by #KRLYON for the final color.
Step 3- Once everything is completely dried, use plastic lining or (in my case) I used zip lock bags. Line the drawer from corner to corner overlapping leaving NO gaps and staple in place using a staple gun. You don't want water seeping through. (I forgot to take a photo of that process, but you get the idea).
Step 4- Add contact paper to add a little more character to your planter/box.

I added a few different planters inside the planter box to add dimension, and interest, also height.
i love the look a real conversation piece, and the doggies love smelling around it. Hopefully spike doesn't lift his leg? ;0 if you notices I skipped the sanding part all together since the drawer really didn't need it.

What do you think? not bad for a quick and free DIY project.

I stapled the plastic liner to the inside of the drawer, doesn't have to perfect, just make sure water doesn't find its way out! This project was fun, simple and easy to do. How many of us have drawers from furniture not being used? or wine bottle crates? and have no idea what to do with it,now you know.
You can even add casters too.

I am practicing, using my daughters Camera!

I placed a butterfly tea light inside the Hippo! :)

Thanks you fro stopping by

I hope to see you soon for more crafty goodness.

Potty Training Tips for Boys

Potty training a boy at times can be very challenging, especially since I (the mom) is home doing all the potty training by myself since the hubby works all day. One thing to always remember is to share your tips and guidance with your hubby and family so your child gets the same reinforcement from everyone. You want to have everyone on the same page. Especially when they get to wear big boy underwear and when training pants are needed.
At times I need guidance with how to take my son to the next stage of potty training and to tell you the truth I find that my son is always surprising me because he let me know when he is ready. I had many people telling to wait till my son was three to start potty training because it will be easier. I felt that I would test my son at different stages of his development so he would let me know. I tried it when he was two years old and it was the wrong time. He was not speaking much and he did not understand the concept. I tried again right before he turned two and half and he showed interest. He still was not talking much but I found that it was the perfect time to start. At the beginning it felt like a losing battle at times. He would have one good day and then one bad day. However, I noticed within a couple of weeks that we were having a lot of good days.
The key is being positive all the time with you child. As long as they know that you will be super excited each time. Last week was our first real outing to with no diaper or pull ups while at  sea world. I did go prepared with extra change of clothes and diapers just in case. We kept a good eye on our son to see if he gave us any sign he needed to go. One tip I will give new parents is at first your child will not tell you they need to go potty but will give you physical signs like doing the pee dance. I have to say our first outing was a success! No accidents the entire day!
Still need some tips? Then guess what I got to know  two experts about potty training. Jeannette Kaplun who is a mom who has potty training boys and girls and writes a very popular blog as well as journalist, recognized parenting expert, experience in TV, radio and media in general.
Jeannette gave some key points to remember when potty training boys is:
  • At times it take boys longer to potty train.
  • Regression its normal in any child just keep positive reinforcement
  • When potty training your child pressure will make thing much more difficult, at times waiting a couple of month makes a huge difference.

We also got Dr. Cotton help answering some question about potty training. Dr. Cotton is a Miami base pediatrician for 17 years and has three children of his own. Dr. Cotton dedicated his career in providing Hispanic mother with the tool and information about heath care.
His key point about potty training are
  • Potty training a boy sitting down or standing up will all depends on the family and no way is wrong way.
  • Potty training should begin when the child is mature enough.
  • Scheduled potty brakes through out the day to remind the child to go to the potty.
  • Patience is key in potty training and positive reinforcement.

If you have not seen it yet Pull-ups also  has a wonderful phone application which has timers you can use to set to remind yourself and your child that its time to potty.  The app is available for android and itunes and its called Big Kids app at pull-ups. The app has Disney characters which I know my child loves! He is in that stage where he love cars. Pull-ups has help me keep at it with potty training and made it fun for my son.

If you still find that you need a support system then come over to http://www.pull-ups.com where many mom's are sharing their stories and support. I also love to read the Pull Ups potty training tip of the day, they can be very helpful.

Till next time,

Loren
