Book Folding Art Tutorial
Book folding is a wonderfulway to use/recycle old books instead of throwing them out. I hate to throw out books and decided it would be more fun to have them as decor in my home. Today I have a good treat for you with a brand new tutorial. All it takes is an old book and time. I usually do my book folding while watching TV. It feels like I am actually getting something accomplished while watching TV instead of being a couch potato. So grab a paper back book and rip the covers off and put your favorite show on TV its time to get started.

Little Girl Room Decor
Its that time again. We have Nicole from Design it girl blog guest posting today with a super cute idea for little girls room. Come and take a look.
Pink, & Green
the perfect colors for a little girls room...
My client wanted Pink, and she couldn't decide on the color for the Bow Back Windsor Chair!. Yellow was a color choice and I am glad she decided on the Green. Hollyhock Pink and Mint Leaf Green are the perfect color combination for her daughters chair. Lilly Pulitzer inspired, which goes well with her daughters beautifully decorated room in Lilly Pulitzer. Here are some of my Lilly Pulitzer favorites..delicious colors, reminds me of ice cream on a sugar cone on a hot summer day!

You find the most wonderful thing with out expecting them. I was browsing in Pinterest when I found the most fantastic Idea! They use old vintage wooden spools. I completely fell in love with it and of course I thought, why did I not think of that?! I am not a big sewing person but I love wooden spools. I was thinking of doing a similar wreath with spools for the door of my craft room!

Guest Post from Design it Girl with How to spray paint a night stand sea foam green.
Today we have Nicole from Design it Girl with a beautiful night stand that she has painted sea foam green. Come and stay a while.
I purchased this Vintage Night Stand at the Salvation Army, it's in great condition and needed some TLC. The original hardware is awesome, original brass and in great shape. I wasn't sure about the color and was torn between Blue & Green, finally i decided on Sea Foam Green and thought "this was a great choice". Using Rust-Oleum Spray paint primer (two coats) and then a few coats of Rust-Oleums Sea Foam Green, sprayed on evenly. sanding in between coats works best for a smoother end result. Here is the before:

How to cover Cabinet doors with fabric and Mod Podge!
I have I told you that I just have apartment at times? Well I do, they are either very generic or have the worst cabinet ever! Our apartment has really out of date cabinets in the kitchen and please don't get me started on how small the kitchen is in our apartment. We can only have one person at the time in it. Usually everyone want to be in the kitchen with me when I am trying to cook. At times I wish I had open shelving like in their site. I love the industrial look in the kitchen.
However, I have to work with what I have. As you can imagine I spend a couple of hours in the kitchen cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner and I got very tired at looking at my falling apart old looking cabinets.
Now the question is how can I cover the cabinets with out doing any damage to them because I really would like to keep my deposit.

Anthropologie has Steampunk Lamp?!
I was browsing Anthropologie.com seeing all the goodies I can't have and then I found a couple of beauties! I could not believe that Anthropologie actually carry industrial/Steampunk lamps. They are kind of pricey, well very pricey but beautiful non the less. I wish I could own every single lamp.
VIA
The curves of this lamp are fantastic. I just love the industrial/steampunk kind of look the lamp gives off.
VIA
I love this piece because of the giant magnifying glass and can you honestly tell me its not sexy?
VIA
The beautiful piece above is my favorite one because it looks like a flower in the inside but its the metal work that makes it look that way.
VIA
This one up here looks almost like a floor lamp with a magnifying glass attached to it. I just love the presence it give out. It speaks to me "I am all powerful."
So when you have time stop by your favorite website and take a look and see what new things you can find.
x0x0x,
Everything in this post is 100% my opinion and not paid advertising for Anthropologie. I just like cute things.

Easy way to save money
One of my goals for 2013 is to save money so we can go on Vacation. However, its difficult to save money when life might throw unexpected thing at you. So I found a easy way to save money. I found this cute idea on Facebook. Its a chart breaking down each week and how much you should save.
I am going try to do the Chart backwards because after the holidays I am always broke. So for the first month I will start with a $1 then jump down to 52 in February.
VIA
I am thinking that I might have to start a different fund for crafting too! What do you think? It will have to be in a much smaller scale. I think this challenge seems easier to keep up with than any other I have seen online. Especially since in this economy saving is such a hard thing to do.
I am wondering any of you brave enough to join me? hehe. Wish me luck!

DIY Trunk Coffee Table
I found this cute little old truck over at the Salvation Army and I though it would be so cute as a coffee table/toy storage. My little one always has his toys running around my living room and I though a little storage would go a long way. So I decided to make a DIY Trunk Coffee Table.
Can you imagine that the trunk only cost me $12!
So I went to work on my new trunk.
Materials:
Trunk
Table legs (home depot)
paint (desired colored)
painters tape
brush
The first thing you will need to do is cover the edges and locks with painters tape to make sure you don't paint over them.
I spent a couple of hours just covering the trunk. It was not fun at all but it needed to be done. Then I went to work on the legs of the trunk. I got my table legs at the Home Depot.
I used a mahogany stain for the table legs. I just love dark wood and of course it matches everything in my home.
After staining the table legs and left to dry, it was time to paint the trunk. As you might have guessed already purple is my favorite color and I decided to paint the trunk that color.
Once everything is dry its time to install the table legs to the trunk. You will need to drill 1/2 inch holes threw the bottom of the trunk.
Now that you are done with all the drilling, you will need to hammer the T-Nuts on top of the holes you just drilled. They will need to be place in the inside of the trunk. The t-nuts help keep the legs in place. The little teeth of the t-nuts dig into the wood to maintain the legs in place.
I have another tutorial on how to install them here.
You will nee to screw the legs from the bottom of the trunk and Ta-Da!

Goals for 2013
I know most of the time you think about your goals on New Year's eve but I do my thinking on New Year. I like to reflect on what I have done and what I would like to improve in myself. I am in a new city and a new year has come to explore the wonders of San Diego.
1. Go whale watching- I love whales and I would do anything to see one in person and no sea world does not count. hehe.
2. Save money- I really want to do a lot of activities and travel this year and saving is key.
3. Go see a new place out of San Diego- I want to take a family trip to see more than what's in my backyard. I would love to see the Redwoods!
4. Run a couple of miles a week - Feeling better about myself is key for me this year. I have a little monster who is full of energy and I need to keep up with him.
5. Learn Photoshop- I would like to improve my photo editing.
6. Watch less TV and do a little more walking - TV just kills all creativity and is something I want to do less. I need to go out and enjoy the outdoors.
7. Improve my blogging- Blogging has become a big part of my life and I want to improve and learn everything I can.
8. Think positive of others- At time I just jump to conclusions instead of taking a step back and giving the person the benefit of the doubt.
9. Network More - I want to meet more people, just like you!
10. Try to get DIY publish in a magazine- I would love to have one of my craft publish by a magazine.
Tell me what are yours?
Till Next time!
