DIY Star Wars X-Wing Jewelry

My geek side is coming out and I wanted to share with you my Star Wars X-Wing Star fighter Alliance jewelry that I made.

I am a geek at heart. I love to watch my science fiction movies and the only thing I read is science fiction books. Trust me when I tell you that I will be one of the first one’s in line for then new Star Trek into the Darkness when it comes out in theaters. So I have shared my girly side with you all and now its time to show you my geek side. I know that no matter if you are not geeky, you most definitely know some body who is. You could do this super easy tutorial for a gift or for yourself just for fun.

You will need a couple of things.

Acrylic paint in grey, white and red

Sand paper

Polymer clay (white)

Star Wars x-wing star fighter silicon mold

Mod Podge acrylic sealer

Ring

E-6000

Earrings hooks

The first thing you will need to do is to get you silicon mold and place the white clay in the mold. I got my mold from ThinkGeek.com. They have everything you would want if you are a geek. Try to get the clay as evenly spread in the mold as you can.

Take a look at the instructions for baking of your clay. It usually does not take more than 15 minutes to bake.

Try to get the clay as even and as deep as you can in your mold or you will get cracks like I did. However, I don’t mind the imperfection because it seems like it has been in the battle.

Now its time to paint your molds. I use the grey and white acrylic paint and mix them together to lighten up the grey a little. I paints all over and let it dry.

Since I did not have a thin enough brush to apply the red to the Star Wars X-wing I used Tim Holtz Distress Marker barn door.

I wanted the Star Fighter to look battle damage so I sand it down a little to remove some of the paint.

Time to take out your E-6000 and glue the ring to the X-Wing.

Do the same with the earrings Ideally its better to make tiny holes before you bake the clay but I forgot. What I did was just glue it to the back or each x-wing.
